On Oct. 18, Tulsa television station KOTV (Channel 6) reported that Claver had acknowledged being investigated by the Oklahoma [[Council on Judicial Complaints]] in connection with his recorded comedy performances posted on YouTube. Claver's YouTube channel had until then included clips of him performing comedic routines that included jokes about gays and Baptists. Claver told Channel 6 that he is a Baptist. Upon learning of the controversy surrounding his comedy videos, Claver removed them from YouTube.

Channel 6 news reporters said they'd received a folder containing anonymous complaints from constituents offended by Claver's comedy. Some of the clips were recorded in his Okmulgee judicial chambers. A gay-rights advocate, Toby Jenkins of Oklahomans for Equality told Channel 6 the comedy was not as offensive as other gay jokes he'd heard, but said it could raise questions about the judge's impartiality. Claver said the jokes were not intended to offend anyone.
