Attorney Biography

I am a civilian solo practice attorney who focuses on helping soldiers with getting out of the Army and in providing legal defense to soldiers facing court-martials and article 15’s. I am located in Lawton/Ft. Sill, Oklahoma but travel as needed to bases in the US and around the world.

    • Education and Experience

Prior to becoming an attorney, I gained experience in military law through an externship with the Dean’s Summer Public Interest Fellowship at Oklahoma City University School of law and through my work as a lay counselor through the Oklahoma Center for Conscience. I have also completed training in military law from New College of California School of Law of San Francisco in January 2005.

I also gained experience by working for my dad’s law firm (Branum Law Offices in Newcastle, Oklahoma) both before, during and after law school. My Dad is a small-town attorney who does mostly consumer bankruptcy law (along with Criminal Defense and Adoption). I learned from him court-room techniques, the value of treating folks with dignity and the importance of providing quality legal services at a price that poor people can actually afford.

I have worked on over 250 cases to date, with most of my experience being with assisting AWOL soldiers with their legal needs. I have clients who reside in almost every state of the union and several foreign countries (many members of the US military today are not US citizens).

While I am a solo-practitioner, I am supported in my work by the | Oklahoma Center for Conscience , the | Military Law Task Force of the | National Lawyers Guild and | Joy Mennonite Church I also often work with counselors affiliated with the national GI Rights hotline.

I am committed to the cause of protecting the rights of US Servicemembers and to helping as many servicemembers as possible to use all legal means possible to be free from participation in the American war machine. If you or your loved one could use my help, please contact me.
