Old Cherokee County District Court


The above image depicts the original Cherokee County District Courthouse, which was built in 1869. It was constructed as the Cherokee Capitol but because the Cherokee County District Court at statehood (1907). Since the current Cherokee County District Court was constructed in 1979, this building has been used a the headquarters for the Cherokee court system and election board. The structure originaly had a copula, which was removed after the building was damaged in 1928.
